is it snowing alot there? it was a winter wonderland in chicago. i forget how extreme the winters were there & can't believe we grew up with those conditions. driving and just walking outside is such an ordeal. i had to go out and just shovel a path to the car & do the driveway every few hours if i wanted to leave the house.

just a couple days of snow so far, it came and went.

we just saw 'land of the lost'. it was a fun movie to see with aleli and stefano so we could laugh together. but when it was over, it was like, wow, that movie was about... nothing.

i also saw 'there will be blood' and 'no country for old men'... some pretty hilarious performances.

didn't see land of the lost, but i remember liking that show as a kid. the movie looked like an overproduced waste of talent. i like danny mcbride alot in more profane adult material like the footfist way & his hbo show eastbound and down. you should netflix the first season on dvd - it's really hilarious & sad at the same time.
daniel day lewis is pretty phenomenal in that movie. he's like a shakespearean character placed in turn of the century america. i was super impressed with the movie overall when i saw it in the theater, but i think it's sort of lost some of its luster for me - even though it's still obviously really well done. no country for old men is really masterfully directed & a terrific adaptation of that book. there are no bad scenes & it's pretty immaculately put together from start to finish. but at the same time, it's kind of empty - but maybe that emptiness is part of the point - commenting on nihilism and moral collapse? tommy lee jones lends the material more moral gravity than it would have without him since he's never winking at the camera like alot of coen brother characters.

that's a good point about the not winking at the camera.

danny mcbride did a behind-the-scenes bit as a bonus feature that was really odd, but probably better than the actual 'land of the lost' movie because it dealt with the notion of representing almost seemingly real human relationships. the idea was that danny is slowly discovering that every one hates him.
