do you know them well enough to converse in a friendly way? my parents neighbors are super nice & clear our driveway in glencoe. but i hardly speak to my neighbors here. i guess it's the nyc culture. i'm friendly to the people who are friendly in the building but most people just kind of glower at you. btw, i just watched the grey & it sort of reminded me of the middle section of blood sea - the whole man vs nature in extremis that i was going for. it has a few annoying aspects, but generally speaking is alot more thoughtful and interesting than most hollywood genre stuff. it has a few really great scenes & some kind of moving death scenes.

they're a visiting japanese family.

i rarely spoke to them over the past few years, mainly because i didn't want to disturb them, they seemed to like their privacy.

i heard on the radio some one protesting a movie that i think was grey.

wolf enthusiasts aren't thrilled by the depiction of wolves.

ah, the peta protests are a bit silly. the wolves in the movie are animatronic & fx driven. i think it's fine to have vicious predators as a plot device. it's not like they're evil - they're just animals.

this talk about wolves reminds me of a comment i overheard from an old lady who said, "why did they call it 'dances with wolves'? i was waiting to seem him dance with wolves, there was no dancing with wolves."

haha. i've actually never seen dances with wolves. i once asked a friend if there was more to it than kevin costner with his arms stretched out running around & he basically said no - so i didn't bother at the time. i probably would have liked a movie where he actually danced with wolves & the wolves danced back. i don't think i missed anything as it is. kind of ridiculous that it beat scorsese/goodfellas at the oscars that year.
