Like in Babe? Or cartoon animals? Btw, I think you might enjoy John Carter. It has a nice old fashioned sincerity in its tone and approach to storytelling. I think it's kind of like old pulp stories/comic books used to be like. In some ways it's a bit like what I was going for in some sections of Blood Sea but far less dark. Your boys might like it too. It's fairly innocuous like the Star Wars movies but with much better storytelling than the first 2 prequels.
yeah, but it's not like there are explicit descriptions of the nudity & most of the nudity is with alien creatures. i think there was a series of john carter comics. that's what andrew stanton said he first read.
there were some old john carter comics that were pretty good drawn by a guy named jesse marsh. he's a great cartoonist, he made everything look subdued and stoic.
it's entertaining in an old fashioned pulpy way. i put it on hold to try and finish reading the hunger games before the movie opens on friday. but i'll definitely finish it. after seeing the movie, i wanted to read the books.
i read an old tarzan novel a while ago and felt that way, too, entertaining in an old-fashioned pulpy way.
one scene in particular stuck in my mind, where tarzan realizes he's about to die and there's nothing he can do about it, and he thinks, "so, this is the end."
